Euroshop Retail Design Award
Hofstede Wins International Retail Design Award
In February 2011, during a gala evening in Düsseldorf, held by the international EHI Retail Institute, the annual EuroShop Retail Design Awards were awarded. For the first time in history, a Dutch store was bestowed this prestigious prize and for the first time it was an optician who took home the award.
Hofstede Optics in The Hague received the prize for the exclusive design of the store that was described by the jury as a sculpture with organic, flowing shapes that stimulate the senses of the visitor and allow products to come completely into their own. Each and every frame and sunglasses at Hofstede receives an important added value because of the way they are presented.
Shopping at Hofstede Optics is an experience and the store is a theater. The mirrors, the projection on the large circular wall, the integrated measuring equipment and the way the space is divided, all contribute to a unique experience. These aspects make that the shop more than perfectly satisfies the criteria for the prize. The jury was also unanimous in its decision and the jury report was laudatory.
With this award Hofstede Optics finds itself on an illustrious list winners of previous winners, including El Palacio de Hierro in Guadalajara, Elord Golf Fashion in Seoul, Intersport Bründl in Kaprun, American Girl Place in Chicago Niketown London, Romanticism in Hangzhou, Barneys new York in Dallas, Globetrotter Cologne, Zen Department Store in Bangkok, Department Jelmoli Zurich and the new Levi's flagship store in London.
